The Perishable Past - On the Advantage and Disadvantage of Archaeology for Life

The aim of the article is to make clear whether and in that case why archaeology important. Often this seen as a self-evident fact which needs no motivation. My point departure concrete example, namely, medieval church Mårup Denmark will soon fall into sea: Why it so crucial save or document many other traces past? Isn't so-called cultural heritage condemned destruction oblivion? Rhetorical catchwords, values, justifications explanations within management, archaeology, history social anthropology are presented critically discussed together with indirect motivations borrowed from literature about abuse past.
